As we discussed last week, high stress is one of the two primary causes of the high rates of driver turnover we see today. However, there’s also good news: technology can be the solution to driver stress, so long as it’s used in one of three particular ways.
This week, in the third entry of our three-part series on reducing driver stress, we’ll be discussing: Educational support.

Educational Support: What Does That Really Mean?
“Educational support” may seem like a broad term, and that’s because it is. Essentially, educational support refers to any technology that helps drivers improve their skills and professionally develop. Examples of this technology may include:
- Risk identification systems that help fleets identify the skills drivers need to improve upon
- Learning management systems that provide curriculum for drivers who are assigned PDPs
- Training management systems that help fleets guide their driver through a professional development plan (PDP)
Importantly, the technologies above don’t just give fleets training videos or modules they can assign to drivers; they help them pinpoint where a driver needs training and guide them through their training plan.
How Does Educational Support Reduce Stress?
The explanation for this is simple: When drivers are given a way to further their skills on the road, they gain an outlet to act on their intrinsic desire to improve professionally, which can increase job satisfaction.
Additionally, when a fleet is able to help drivers identify areas they can improve upon, offer incentives for undergoing professional development, and guide them through the training process, they are more likely to feel supported by their fleet. This support can cultivate a positive work environment and potentially reduce both voluntary and involuntary turnover.
The Tech You Need to Provide Educational Support
While it may seem difficult to implement technology that can help your drivers’ educational needs, fortunately, the Idelic Safety Suite® makes this simple.
Instill safety-first values into every employee with Safety Suite’s Professional Development Plan Module. By empowering managers with the tools needed to create high-frequency onboarding plans—and by identifying training needs with an AI-powered Driver Watch List—Safety Suite helps fleets build a strong safety culture and support their drivers throughout their professional development.
